Managing a Crisis

I do not have the resources available to provide crisis support or immediate assistance, that is if you need immediate support or feel unsafe because you are experiencing self-harm or suicidal thoughts

  • If you need immediate help or your life is in danger, contact (000)

  • If you are in crisis or having difficulty coping you could present at your local hospital emergency department

  • To access immediate psychiatric support contact CAT (Crisis assessment and management team in your area) https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/crisis-management  The CAT responds to urgent requests to help people in mental health crisis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  

  • A mental health crisis may include: a psychotic episode, self-harm, feeling suicidal, feeling out of control.  In Victoria please click on the following link for a list of Mental Health Service and CAT services specify your locality link for a list of Mental health services and CAT services specific to your locality http://www.health.vic.gov.au/mentalhealthservices/adult/index.htm

  • You can also contact: Suicide Call Back Service (1300 659 467); Beyondblue (1300224636); Lifeline (131114)

  • If you are in crisis or having difficulty coping during business hours you could call your GP to arrange an appointment on the day

  • If you have been impacted by sexual assault, domestic or family violence and abuse please call 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732)
